Online Communication-Rana

Rana is an ecological design company that specializes in creating landscapes and botanical features that support and restore the earth.

Does the company do a good job communicating on its website and social media platforms? Provide examples.

This company's website is beautifully designed to showcase their deep respect and outlook in the creation of ecologically sound landscape designs. The front page includes an attractive moving image of a redwood forest, a significant tree species on California's central coast. Regarding their social media platforms, I think they could be more active in displaying their outstanding designs.

On the company website, what is featured at the top, in the middle, and at the bottom of the home page? Why do you think they have it organized this way? In your opinion, is it effective?

The top of the company's site includes its logo, main goal/mission statements, a moving image of a redwood forest, and at the top right corner, tabs leading to their about, expertise, portfolio, nursery, and contact tabs. I think this has been organized to create an instant impact that portrays their ecological-focused business outlook and presents an easily navigatable site. I think this organization is effective because all needed information is readily available when accessing the site.

When continuing to scroll down the page, a statement from the founder is displayed, along with an image and link to a recently completed design. Further down, they provide a summary of their company story, followed by an expansion of their expertise section that lists the areas they specialize in.

Does the business communicate an identity online? Provide examples.

Besides its main website, the company has social media profiles for its main business, Rana Cohabitat, and its nursery, Rana Nursery. They also have InstagramLinkedInFacebook, and Youtube account.

Where could the company improve its online communication?

I think this company could emphasize how they grow the plants used in their designs on-site, including a majority of California native plants. Additionally, I think they should be more active on their social media sites, specifically the ones for the nursery, to better advertise that their nursery is open to the public and not just contractors who are working on design projects.
